It is a wood frame house. Should I paint it OR have siding installed? Which increased the value of the home or provides better curb appeal??

Can I Use A Home Appraisal From 1 Bank For Another Bank?

I had an appraisal done with my home and it was for a bank. It didnt work out and I have another bank that has a good rate and accepted me on my appraisal quote from the other bank. The problem is; my appraisal was done 2 weeks ago and was using a high comp that was almost a year old. Now the new bank said we can use the appraisal done 2 weeks ago and have it transferred and its a go. The appraiser said it is no longer leagal to do that and would need to do another appraisal. That high comp is no longer available and now the value is down 20 grand which puts me out of the 80 20 rule. In Massachusetts is there any legal way to use an appraisal from 1 bank for another if all parties agree?

I am interested in a home, 1652 sq. ft with pool in nice neighborhood, they are asking $139.9K…according to zillow.com the assesed value is $107K…Just wondering what kind of offer I should make? I think that the 130’s are way too high, but was wondering if they would think I am trying to low-ball if I offered like $120K?
I know someone who bought a 2450 sq. ft house in the same neighborhood with pool for less than $130K…
What are your thoughts?

Were Property Taxes In Indiana Lowered To 1% Of The Home’s Value?

I know that there was talk about a cap on Indiana’s property taxes of 1 percent of the homes value. Does anyone know if that was ever passed? Our taxes have still not been assessed for 2008 and I was hoping that they would go down.

we have about $18,000 in available equity. The addition is likely to exceed that amount. Do you know if a mortgage company will lend you more than your home is appraised at for an addition since the value of the home will increase when the addition is complete?

We are constructing a new house. Community is relatively new. In this community few houses have be depreciated this year. Is it possible that when we appraise our home, after construction is complete, the appraised value can be lower than the combined land cost and building cost ? In this case can we back out from buying this house at all ? Are we legally bound to buy this property from the builder even if it’s value had gone down.

I was planning to sell the house when I first got into the 5/1 arm but home prices went down, I was stuck. the 5 year is up and rates went up. I lost my job and can’t make the higher payments, I talk with the loan company and they say my dept is to high and the home value is too low for refinancing. What am I to do?
